About the role
The Infrastructure and Facilities Manager will manage the three 1960s-era buildings, utilities, civil infrastructure, and property that support the wind-tunnel testing mission at Tunnel 9. The candidate will take hands-on ownership of major legacy facility systems—including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and exterior systems.
Responsibilities
- Direct daily activities of the contractor responsible for building maintenance, repair, and service-provider coordination.
- Work with contractors to propose innovative and economic solutions to legacy 1960s building problems and lead implementation.
- Assure the reliable operation of facilities and civil infrastructure (roads, water, HVAC) to provide an efficient and safe working environment for employees.
- Maintain the existing or develop and implement new facility management programs including preventative maintenance and life-cycle requirements tailored to older systems.
- Use best business practices to manage resources, services and processes.
- Plan, budget, and execute facility refurbishments and renovations.
- Provide prompt response/solutions to technical and infrastructure issues identified by facility occupants.
- Ensure projects comply with relevant codes, standards, and safety regulations.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including systems engineers, electrical engineers, aerospace engineers, and operations personnel, to ensure successful project and test outcomes.
- Assist other project managers, principals, or officers in the management of extremely large, multidiscipline projects.
Requirements
- High School diploma or GED with Minimum of 11 years of progressive, relevant experience in facility management, public works, or an industrial maintenance field.
- Relevant advanced education (such as an Associate's degree) or specialized trade certifications may be substituted for a portion of the total experience requirements.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance and access the AEDC local area network.
- Current U. S. Citizenship required.
Qualifications
- Active Secret Security Clearance.
- Extensive experience in the maintenance, construction, and operation of industrial or government facility operations, with a specific focus on complex legacy electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems.
- Strong working knowledge of government facility regulations and Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) standards.
- Proven expertise in facilities project management, including the ability to define and solve complex infrastructure problems across buildings and grounds.
- Solid understanding of business administration, including basic financial principles, procurement processes, and contract management.
