About the role

The Facility Maintenance Technician ensures proper working condition and usage of facility and facility machinery, including safety and signage.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and troubleshoot the facility, terminal equipment and repair basic malfunctions.
  • Observe and implement resolutions to safety or security concerns or issues in relation to terminal equipment and facility, in cooperation with safety and security personnel.
  • Examine and maintain facility appearance and signage.
  • Ensure facility working conditions are clean and safe.
  • Responsible for minor electrical repairs (i.e. receptacles, GFI replacement, office lighting repairs).
  • Responsible for restroom repairs (minor plumbing), sheetrock repairs, painting.
  • Install guarding throughout Facility.
  • Conduct minor repairs in overhead door and HVAC troubleshooting.
  • Conduct basic maintenance and troubleshooting of trash compactors and/or bailers.
  • Repair dock equipment (i.e. minor repairs in dock levelers, lighting, and safety guards).
  • Charge and maintain forklift battery (distilled water filling), charging stations and cleanup of acid deposits.
  • Work with facility and forklift vendors to initiate and complete repairs beyond our ability to repair (i.e. requires expert OEM knowledge, parts, or tools); and to control and audit vendor PM process.
  • Work very closely with Safety Committee and needs throughout facility to install and maintain all signs, floor markings, guards.
  • Perform fire extinguisher audit and other safety checklist items.
  • Maintain upkeep of Spill Stations and kits throughout facility.
  • Perform minor carpentry projects, assembling/fabrication of furniture.

Requirements

  • High School or equivalent training and/or least 6 months related experience preferred.

Skills

  • Ability to speak English.
  • Understand and carry out oral instructions; read and carry out written instructions.
  • Communicate verbally and through email.
  • Observe and read gauges, instruments, dials, etc. to determine operating conditions.
  • Inspect/examine/determine nature and location of malfunctions in equipment or equipment defects.
  • Use non-power hand tools such as hammers, wrenches and power hand tools.
  • Basic to intermediate mechanical and electrical skills.
  • Perform repair and maintenance of automation or other equipment.

Physical Demands

  • Frequently move about the warehouse to successfully maintain the facility, its machinery and signage.
  • Frequently push/pull equipment and transport parcels weighing up to 50 pounds, which will include frequent bending, lifting, kneeling, pushing and pulling.
  • Constantly inspect, observe, estimate and assess the safe working conditions of the facility and machinery.
