Summary or Purpose

Perform routine maintenance on facilities and grounds including carpentry, plumbing and electrical repairs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintain and repair HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical and security systems.
  • Maintain and repair physical structures as needed.
  • Use power tools and other departmental equipment to perform basic carpentry, electrical, mechanical, air conditioning, plumbing and/or other repairs and maintenance.
  • Inspect facilities, equipment and grounds for necessary repairs, improvements or preventative maintenance.
  • Maintain accurate records and inventory control/Receiving Reports.
  • Perform janitorial duties on the grounds and in the facility.
  • Perform duties as assigned by the work order(s) received.
  • Comply with all safety standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of North Slope Borough organization, operations, policies and procedures.

Education, Experience, Certifications and Licenses Required

  • High school graduate or G.E.D/ or, a combination of 12 years of education and related work experience.
  • Two years of combined work experience in carpentry, mechanics, electrical, and plumbing;
  • Valid Alaska Driver's License that meets the North Slope Borough insurance criteria.

  • This position is NON-Rotational.
  • Housing is NOT provided. Therefore, due to extreme weather conditions in the arctic and for your safety, housing accommodations must be located and pre-arranged by the applicant prior to the start of employment. The applicant must pay for housing; it is not provided by the NSB.
