Facility Maintenance Specialist

About the role

This position completes routine and emergency maintenance repairs to all areas of the Hospital. This includes minor plumbing, electrical, carpentry, glass replacement, as well as general maintenance such as installing bulletin boards, unplugging toilets, wall board repair, and painting.

Responsibilities

• Respond to local and campus-wide emergencies.
• Make repairs including but not limited to fires, floods, broken pipes, stuck elevators, broken windows, and door hardware malfunctions.
• Provide various phases of skilled maintenance and repair to walls, ceilings, floors, and roofs as required, including painting, plumbing, minor electrical repairs, carpentry, mechanical equipment repair, sheet metal fabrication, repairing door locks and door hardware, and installation and/or repair of door jambs, closures, and fire systems.
• Direct the fire department to the location of announced alarms, provide needed assistance, reset fire alarm panels, and support hospital staff during and after emergencies.
• Install items to walls, such as pictures, bulletin boards, small cabinets, dispensers, and shower curtain assemblies using proper anchoring systems.
• Respond to plumbing emergency repairs such as leaking faucets, toilets, and unclogging plumbing fixtures.

Requirements

• Two years of experience in one or more of the following areas:
  • General building maintenance
  • Carpentry
  • Electrical
  • Mechanical
  • Painting
  • Plastering
• A journeyman’s license/card in any of the above trades will substitute for the required experience. A copy of your journeyman’s license/card must be attached to your application.

Qualifications

The following attributes are desired for success in this role:

• Experience responding to emergencies.
• Experience with skilled maintenance and repair across multiple trades.
• Ability to assist during emergencies, including directing emergency responders and resetting fire alarm panels.
• Experience installing wall-mounted items using proper anchoring systems.
• Experience with plumbing emergency repairs.

Pay

$3,952 – $5,458 per month. The salary listed is the non-PERS qualifying range. If the successful candidate qualifies for PERS, the salary range will increase by 6.95%.

• This is an in-office position.
• Employment is contingent upon a criminal records check and a driving records check that meets OHA criteria at the time of hire and throughout employment.
