Facility Maintenance - Northwest Ohio

About the role

GEM Facility Management is seeking a Facility Maintenance Technician 2 (MT2) to service the Northwest Ohio region. This role involves performing routine maintenance and repair tasks, including basic carpentry, plumbing, and electrical repairs under the direction of a manager. The ideal candidate will exhibit strong communication skills, a solid work ethic, and a willingness to learn.

Responsibilities

• Take direction from property managers/customers
• Perform general building and property maintenance and repair tasks
• Conduct building inspections and safety checks
• Support Property Managers as required
• Accurately follow processes and procedures
• Lift, push, pull, or carry weight up to 50 lbs (typically no less than 35 lbs)
• Remain on feet for 8 to 10 hours per day
• Travel to other facilities and vendors as required

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Minimum 5 years of applicable maintenance experience
• Minimum 2 years of painting experience, including wall surface repair, prep, and paint
• Two-year technical degree may substitute for one year of experience
• Valid driver’s license and ability to operate company vehicles

Skills

• Basic tool and maintenance knowledge
• Good communication skills and ability to follow direction
• Computer, phone, and software proficiency
• Ability to work in compliance with company safety policies, including lockout/tagout and fall protection
• Knowledge of building inspections and safety checks
• Basic understanding of plumbing, electrical, and HVAC operations
• Ability to perform light electrical maintenance and repairs
• Ability to perform light carpentry maintenance and repairs
• Understanding of simple building systems and work orders
• Familiarity with Building Management Systems (BMS) and Building Automation Systems (BAS)
