About the role

The Louisiana Veterans Homes mission is to serve the Veteran population of Louisiana through the provision of maintenance services in an atmosphere of respect and compassion. Join the State of Louisiana Department of Veterans Affairs at the Southeast Louisiana Veterans Home, where you'll step into a role as the Facility Maintenance Manager A that performs supervision and maintenance level work with excellence genuine care for those who served.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and direct the maintenance department, including daily maintenance tasks such as maintaining a 480-volt electrical system, oxygen supply system, plumbing, HVAC, cooling tower, chemicals for an exclusive heat pump system, along with computerized mechanical system that monitors the heat pumps, exhaust system, hot water boilers, vacuum pumps.
  • Maintain the Fire Warning System, Alzheimer units magnetic locking system, and manage the maintenance of all facility vehicles with monthly MV-3 reports, Fuelman Reports, and repairs of the facility.
  • Manage an operating budget and report resident complaints and incidents, collaborating with Maintenance Repairer 2 employees to ensure all complaints and incidents are properly handled.
  • Affirm quality assurance through audits and staff in-services, aiding in improvements in the maintenance department and adherence to policy and procedure standards.
  • Ensure a safe, clean, and effective work environment for residents and employees.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Five years of experience in the building construction trade or building maintenance; or in road or bridge construction or maintenance; OR
  • Completion of a two-year training program in general building construction, construction technology, or engineering plus three years of experience in the building construction trade or building maintenance; or in road or bridge construction or maintenance; OR
  • Eighteen semester hours in a construction field or engineering plus two years of experience in the building construction trade or building maintenance; or in road or bridge construction or maintenance.

Pay

Compensation ranges depending on experience: $31.60 - $56.86/hour; $2,528.00 - $4,548.80 bi-weekly; $65,728.00 - $118,269.00 annually.

Schedule

Hours are from Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. to include possibly some emergency weekends and holidays.
