GEO provides complementary, turnkey solutions for numerous government partners worldwide across a spectrum of diversified correctional and community reentry services, including facility development, management, evidence-based rehabilitation, and post-release reintegration and supervision.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate with Corporate Project Development team and manage construction or remodeling programs to ensure timely completion.
- Ensure all necessary permits are obtained before projects start.
- Inspect completed work for conformance to blueprints, specifications, and standards; authorize payment for completed work.
- Develop and maintain maintenance budgets and costs; notify management of budget deviations.
- Review production schedules and estimate worker hour requirements to meet project deadlines.
- Establish, prioritize, and adjust work procedures to meet production schedules.
- Monitor Building Automation Systems (BAS); review, record, and analyze energy usage and costs to identify cost-effective approaches.
- Direct workers maintaining the facility’s physical structure, including plumbing, carpentry, painting, HVAC, electrical, security, janitorial, and grounds.
- Direct ground maintenance activities such as mowing, trimming, weeding, and refuse disposal.
- Assist other departments with moving furniture and storing supplies.
- Requisition tools, equipment, and supplies for facility maintenance and operation.
- Interpret company policies to workers and enforce safety regulations; suggest improvements for efficiency.
- Initiate or suggest plans to motivate workers to achieve goals.
- Maintain time and production records; coordinate activities between departments.
- Perform maintenance work temporarily or in emergencies.
- May supervise inmates/detainees receiving maintenance skills training.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent certification required; Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.
- Five (5) years of experience in construction, plumbing, electricity, HVAC, mechanical, carpentry, or related work.
- Journeyman's certification in one or more trades such as HVAC, electrical, plumbing, or carpentry.
- Certification as a building maintenance supervisor or Facility Manager (BOMA or AHLA) preferred.
- Demonstrated supervisory experience.
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence; speak effectively to groups.
- Ability to calculate estimates and solve practical problems with limited standardization.
- Ability to interpret instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Proficiency with computers and business software; experience using BAS computer software.
