About the role
The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will oversee and manage the financial operations and day-to-day fiscal management of the hospital. This role is newly created due to the organization's growth.
Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage overall financial operations and day-to-day fiscal management of the hospital.
- Prepare annual operating budget and participate in the annual strategic planning process, including ongoing analysis of variances from budget and implementing changes needed to achieve budget goals.
- Ensure accounting and business office policies and internal controls are in place for audit with no material adjustments or deficiencies found.
- Confirm timely and accurate monthly financial statements, including monthly operating reports, certifications, disclosures, and forecasts.
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis and in compliance with company policies with variances identified and corrected.
- Routinely review revenue cycle metrics to identify and address issues affecting overall performance, including timely collection of accounts receivable, limiting uncompensated care, and achieving goals for cash collections and AR days to reduce bad debt and denials.
- Actively involved in Front End Revenue Cycle processes, including completed insurance verification on 100% of patients, working with the financial counselors to ensure proper determination of patient portions and approval of any discounts or charity for logging of upfront collections.
- Maintain oversight of purchasing to ensure supply costs are kept to budgeted levels.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Public Health, or Clinical Discipline required. Master's degree preferred.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive financial leadership experience in a healthcare setting required, including experience leading hospital or facility-based financial operations (e.g., Director of Finance, Controller, or similar roles).
- Prior experience serving as a Chief Financial Officer or in a senior finance leadership role preferred.
- Completion of the NPH CFO-in-Training Program may be considered in lieu of direct CFO experience.
- Behavioral healthcare experience highly preferred.
- Must live within market being served.
- Excellent financial analysis skills.
- Advanced proficiency with software packages including Excel and Word.
