Facilities Technician

The Facilities Technician ensures the functionality, safety, and comfort of MCG’s buildings and grounds, performing routine and emergency facility tasks with limited travel to other local facilities.

Responsibilities

• Complete basic maintenance tasks assigned by the Facility Manager with minimal oversight.
• Perform scheduled preventative maintenance to ensure systems run smoothly and efficiently.
• Maintain inventory and safely use tools and equipment.
• Keep accurate records of completed work, parts used, and maintenance schedules.
• Collaborate with facility users, tenants, or supervisors regarding maintenance needs and solutions.
• Interface with professional contractors for projects and tasks as needed.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment, addressing minor cleaning or janitorial needs.
• Respond promptly to work orders and service requests to minimize disruption.
• Perform minor renovations or installations.
• Prioritize safety in all actions, follow protocols, identify hazards, and report unsafe conditions.
• Model safe behavior and contribute to a culture of workplace safety.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in facilities or a related field (relevant technical training may substitute).
• High school diploma or equivalent; technical training courses preferred.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Satisfactory completion of additional background screening (if applicable).

• Read and understand basic schematics and maintenance manuals.
• Assist with routine shop and equipment maintenance.

• Attendance & Punctuality: Maintain 97% attendance rate with minimal tardiness.
• Teamwork & Communication: Receive positive feedback from team leaders or operators on responsiveness and attitude.
• Safety Compliance: Zero safety violations or incidents; full adherence to PPE and safety protocols.

Work Environment and Physical Demands

• FLSA non-exempt position paid on an hourly basis; overtime may be required, including extended shifts, weekends, or holidays.
• Based on the production floor with extended periods of standing, working around machinery, and adherence to safety standards.
• Mobility: Ability to move around the manufacturing plant, including walking, standing, and climbing stairs.
• Manual Dexterity: Occasional use of hands to handle objects, tools, or controls.
• Lifting: Ability to lift and carry items up to fifty (50) pounds following OSHA standards.
• Visual and Auditory Requirements: Must see and hear well enough to navigate the plant safely and communicate effectively.
