Facilities Project Engineer - MD

About the role

The Facilities Project Engineer oversees facility and equipment-related projects in a manufacturing environment. This role manages all project aspects, including design, specification, financial justification, scheduling, and implementation. The engineer also develops critical spares lists, preventive maintenance schedules, and supports maintenance staff in diagnosing technical equipment problems while applying lean manufacturing principles to optimize reliability and efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Develops and maintains a functional computerized preventive maintenance (PM) program using industry standards; oversees all facets of the program.
• Utilizes computerized systems to input PM orders and track status or completion.
• Develops and maintains an inventory of critical spare parts to minimize downtime.
• Analyzes current facility workflows to identify and remove non-value-added activities.
• Evaluates and recommends improvements to increase production and reduce downtime.
• Updates and designs plant layouts and equipment workflows to reduce transportation, motion, and other wasted efforts.
• Coordinates and streamlines installation and/or repairs of equipment with Maintenance and associated departments.
• Participates in development and implementation of projects to accomplish established production goals.
• Maintains records of planned and completed maintenance.
• Plans and implements environmental and construction projects using vendors, contractors, consultants, and in-house resources.
• Coordinates and supervises project activities of contractors, consultants, and vendors to ensure timely, on-budget completion meeting installation and start-up requirements.
• Provides diagnostic assistance to Maintenance staff to resolve facility and equipment problems.
• Works safely, following all departmental and plant safety rules, and reports unsafe conditions.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, industrial engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of three (3) years of relevant work experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification required; Black Belt preferred.
• Strong knowledge of computerized maintenance management programs.
• Financial knowledge for reading and understanding budgets, variances, and basic reporting.
• Ability to use CAD for facility layout and equipment design.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, timekeeping, and work order systems.
• English reading and verbal communication skills sufficient for company procedures and policies.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Project management skills.
• Ability to work the specified shift, including mandatory overtime as needed.

Physical Demands

• Regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear.
• Frequently required to walk.
• Occasionally required to sit, stoop, kneel, and crouch.
• Must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds with assistance.
• Ability to operate lift machinery/equipment and work at heights above 15 feet.
• Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Pay

$115,000 - $140,000, commensurate with experience. Relocation assistance is not available.

Schedule

1st Shift, On-Site - Monday through Friday.
