Facilities Operator Maintenance Mechanic 2nd shift

Overview

Perfetti Van Melle, a leading manufacturer and distributor of confectionery and chewing gum, seeks an enthusiastic Facilities Operator/Maintenance Mechanic to join its growing team. This role operates on a 2nd shift.

What You Will Do

The Facilities Operator/Mechanic Worker will perform maintenance and repairs for assigned equipment and facilities including plumbing, electrical, basic carpentry, heating and cooling, and other building systems. They will coordinate the execution of Building Maintenance programs and assist in Processing and Packaging maintenance programs. Responsibilities also include:

• Using IL6S-Integrated Lean 6 sigma ways of working to deliver zero breakdowns via preventive/predictive maintenance strategies and technical mastery of maintenance and operation teams.
• Role modeling values and principles through effective coaching and building capability of operating teams via specific training on routine maintenance, equipment breakdown, and CIL techniques.
• Interfacing with key stakeholders internally and externally to develop and maintain effective relationships, align priorities to deliver company objectives, and goals.
• Having general knowledge of proper use of power and hand tools.
• Having demonstrated mechanical aptitude and understanding of basic mechanical concepts.
• Being capable of advanced mechanical repairs including bearing & shaft removal & installation, machine assembly and disassembly.
• Being capable of advanced repairs to plumbing, heating and cooling systems and facility related mechanical repairs.

What We Need From You

Candidates should have 3 years of experience in a Maintenance Role or equivalent demonstrated mechanical/electrical skills. They must be proficient in reading written instructions, using CMMS (SAP & UpKeep), and MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Excellent communication, analytical, problem-solving, and collaboration skills are essential. Strong leadership and ability to lead and be coached are required. Availability to work any shift and weekends is necessary. Must have strong writing, verbal, and interpersonal skills, and be a self-starter managing multiple critical activities simultaneously. Must operate machine tools including lathe, mill, welder, grinder, saws, and press. Must maintain a safe and clean work environment following OSHA, GMP, FDA guidelines. Exposure to noise, dust, and handling caustic chemicals with proper PPE may be required.
