Roles and Responsibilities

The role supports senior staff in overseeing financial and contractual operations for Youth Services Facilities, including tracking vendor budgets, processing invoices, and reviewing proposals and change orders. It ensures vendors meet contract terms and deadlines. As a liaison, the role facilitates communication between DYCD, community centers, and external partners to resolve maintenance issues, assist with service requests and IT concerns, and conduct site visits to address recurring facility challenges.

Financial and Contractual Management

  • Support the review of proposals, cost estimates, invoices, and change orders in collaboration with Facilities team.
  • Support vendors meet contract requirements, quality standards, and deadlines as needed.

Community Engagement

  • Serve as a liaison between DYCD, community center staff, vendors, and external stakeholders regarding facility maintenance concerns.
  • Maintain open communication with CBO Program Directors, NYCHA representatives, and maintenance teams to ensure facility needs are met.
  • Provide support to community center staff on submitting service requests and understanding maintenance protocols. Including assistance with IT connections issues.
  • Attend meetings and site visits to discuss facility concerns, gather feedback, and address recurring maintenance challenges.

Minimum Qualifications

  • A high school diploma or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above;
  • An associate’s degree and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above;
  • Education and/or experience which is equivalent to the above qualifications.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience compiling/generating/maintaining dashboards and geographical mapping.
  • Excellent written and communication skills.
  • Highly organized and with attention to details.
  • Proficient computer skills with Microsoft 365 and applications: Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • General Project Management skill is a plus.
  • Knowledgeable in community work, organizing, and engagement.
  • Ability to communicate complex messages clearly and simply to diverse New York City audiences.
  • Ability to function in a fast-paced and quickly changing environment.
  • Positive attitude and team-oriented.
  • Available to work after hours, weekends, and during emergencies as needed.

Residency Requirement

New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. However, City Employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for 2 continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County. To determine if the residency requirement applies to you, please discuss with the agency representative at the time of interview.
