Jefferson County is seeking qualified Facilities Managers to work in the General Services department. Facilities Managers plan, direct, and coordinate the maintenance of various facilities. They supervise and coordinate the managers and staff responsible for inspections, maintenance, and repairs. They also oversee event planning, management, supplies, safety, and equipment maintenance across multiple departments and organizations.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares, monitors, and administers departmental or organizational budget by reviewing spending trends, expenditure reports, analyzing financial data, and ensuring expenditures are within annual budgetary limits.
  • Administers and manages the solicitation and hiring of contractors, and the status of contracted projects to track progress and address necessary changes.
  • Engages in professional development activities to stay aware of developments in the field and relevant practices, rules, laws, policies, and guidelines.
  • Initiates, plans, executes, and monitors work involved in project completion to ensure efficient delivery of service and products.
  • Oversees adherence to safety codes and ensures staff preparedness and compliance to maintain a safe workplace.
  • Supervises staff by assigning and distributing work, directing job duties, monitoring progress, and providing feedback or training.
  • Conducts training to ensure knowledge and understanding of work processes and compliance with procedures and standards.

Requirements

  • Driver's license.
  • Experience developing and monitoring operating and capital budgets for commercial or industrial facilities.
  • Experience planning, coordinating, and directing activities of personnel in crafts or maintenance fields for commercial or industrial facilities.
  • Experience using work order/asset management software to monitor and track facility resources (e.g., personnel and equipment).

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited school in engineering or a related area (desirable).
  • Experience managing the operation, maintenance, and repair of multiple commercial building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and fire/life-safety systems (desirable).
  • Experience managing facility-related contracts and vendors, including developing scopes of work, reviewing proposals, monitoring contractor performance, and approving or reconciling costs (desirable).
  • Experience operating Building Automation System (BAS) software (e.g., Metasys, Desigo, Tracer) (desirable).

Pay

$81,640 - $126,672 per year

Physical Demands

  • Moderate physical exertion required for occasional prolonged periods of standing, pushing, pulling, lifting, carrying, balancing, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
  • May involve occasional lifting of items or objects weighing up to 50 lbs.

Work Environment

  • Work is performed in employer-owned facilities such as offices, workshops, warehouses, or stations.
  • Involves use of hand tools (e.g., screwdrivers, wrenches), office equipment (e.g., computers, copiers, phones), and communication devices (e.g., two-way radios).
  • May require exposure to live electrical circuits, volatile gases, and extreme hot or cold temperatures.
