Duties And Responsibilities
- Perform a variety of skilled work in the maintenance and repair of Paket facilities, infrastructure, and equipment.
- Inspect buildings and other structures to determine functional systems and detect malfunctions. Make needed repairs or contact proper vendor.
- Help maintain and improve Paket's Tank farm.
- Perform minor plumbing maintenance (replacement or repair leaks in drains and faucets, also unclogging drains/toilets).
- Perform minor painting, carpentry and masonry work (e.g. preparing surfaces and using brush, sprayer, or roller to apply paints, stains, and varnishes, hanging doors, fitting locks and handles, etc.).
- Carry out routine servicing of facilities equipment as part of measures to prevent breakdowns and malfunctions, which could affect production activities and mitigate the need for more expensive repair/s.
- Operate low-pressure Boiler System
- Maintain Air Compressors and Vacuum pumps, by making regular checks.
- Maintain a Fire Compression System (Churn Tests).
- Instruct employees on how to operate new or acquired equipment.
- Record maintenance data and activities to track proper maintenance of facilities equipment.
- Order parts and maintain inventory for use in plant activities.
- Communicate with management to inform them about equipment faults/issues and best practices for facilities maintenance that should be implemented for maximum performance.
- Accomplish a wide variety of duties related to the building trades including, but not limited to electrical, plumbing, steam fitter, carpentry, electrical distribution, compressed air systems, HVAC, boiler, fabrication, grounds maintenance, communications, welding and equipment installation.
- Operate a variety of equipment and machines including saws, drill presses and various hand and power tools to perform repair and maintenance work; maintain tools and equipment in a safe, clean and proper working condition.
- May be required to take calls and perform emergency work outside of regular business hours.
Knowledge
- Trade tools, equipment, materials, methods, and techniques used in skilled and general facilities maintenance and repair involving any of the following: electrical, heating and air conditioning, locksmithing, plumbing, carpentry, painting, welding, or equipment mechanic.
- Appropriate health and safety precautions and procedures.
- Technical aspects of field of specialty.
- Proper methods of storing equipment, materials, and supplies.
- Excellent record-keeping techniques.
- Follow all Federal, State, local building codes and regulations, and Illinois Fire Code.
Ability
- Work independently with little direction.
- Meet schedules and timelines.
- Maintain routine records.
- Operation of Paket powered industrial vehicles (forklift, scissor lift, etc.) and perform physical labor.
Physical Demands
- Work is performed while standing, sitting, and/or walking.
- Requires the ability to communicate effectively.
- Requires the use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulations.
- Requires bending, squatting, crawling, kneeling, lifting, climbing, reaching.
- Requires the ability to lift, carry, push, or pull medium weights, up to 50 pounds.
