Facilities Maintenance Mechanic 1

About the role

We are hiring a Maintenance Mechanic in Columbia, MO. This role involves providing skilled general maintenance for machines, buildings, and properties, with guidance from more experienced mechanics. Key responsibilities include plumbing, electrical wiring, troubleshooting, repairing machinery, fabricating equipment, performing preventative maintenance, and improving facilities.

Responsibilities

• Perform limited repair and installation of pipes and plumbing that carry gas, water, air, or miscellaneous hydraulic oils.
• Perform limited repair and installation of electrical wiring in the facility for high and low voltage, including computer and phone lines.
• Perform limited electrical troubleshooting, repair, and installation of motor controls, fuses, circuit breakers, and similar components.
• Troubleshoot, repair, and install simple machinery using air, hydraulics, motors, bearings, and related systems.
• Fabricate production equipment, fixtures, support frames, benches, and shelving.
• Schedule and perform preventative maintenance, following established procedures.
• Repair and improve facility buildings, grounds, and equipment.

Requirements

High school graduate or GED preferred. 0-3 years of related experience, with a trade job-related degree, technical certificate, or equivalent experience preferred.

Qualifications

Preferred qualifications include a two-year degree, technical certificate, or related experience (1-3 years).

Skills

Must have the ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics. Must be able to work independently and as part of a team. Must have strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills. Must have good communication and organizational skills.
