Facilities Maintenance Electrician- 2nd Shift

About the role

We are seeking a skilled Facilities Maintenance Electrician to perform high-quality electrical work in the upkeep and operation of our facility. This role values strong trade knowledge, safe work practices, and pride in workmanship.

Responsibilities

  • Perform maintenance, repair, and inspection of interior and exterior electrical systems, fixtures, and equipment.
  • Safely work on building electrical systems, including 480V, 277V, 120V, and 24V circuits.
  • Install, program, and troubleshoot AC/DC drives and programmable logic controllers (PLCs).
  • Accurately diagnose electrical issues and complete repairs in compliance with all applicable codes and standards.
  • Install conduit and run new wiring as required.
  • Maintain and service switchgear, transformers, and emergency power systems.
  • Install, inspect, repair, and maintain electrical and related systems, including HVAC equipment, fire alarms, lighting, appliances, and power distribution.
  • Use laptop computers and basic software tools to support diagnostics and maintenance activities.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in building maintenance electrical work; commercial or industrial experience preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of technical training and field work.
  • Strong troubleshooting abilities with relay logic and PLC systems.
  • Solid understanding of electrical systems, including 480V three-phase systems, transformers, drives, and power supplies.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a skilled team.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments while maintaining quality and meeting timelines.
  • Clear and effective communication skills.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Must successfully complete required aptitude test and hands-on skills evaluation.
  • Willingness to work various shifts and overtime, as required to support operations.

Physical Requirements

  • Regular physical activity including walking, stooping, kneeling, and repetitive arm/shoulder motion.
  • Routine lifting of 10–20 pounds; occasional lifting, pushing, pulling, or carrying up to 50 pounds or more.
  • Work performed in varying conditions including heat, cold, wet environments, noise (up to 100 dB), dust, fumes, and other industrial exposures.
  • Work at heights, including use of ladders, scaffolding, and man lifts, with a strong focus on maintaining balance and safety.
  • Ability to respond to visual and auditory signals in a timely manner.
  • Manual dexterity required for using tools and performing skilled tasks such as gripping, cutting, and reaching.
  • Ability to distinguish size, shape, depth, temperature, and texture.
  • Travel between different areas of the facility may be required.

  • Follow all established safety procedures and jobsite rules at all times.
  • Proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), including steel-toed boots and other required gear, is mandatory.
  • Commitment to maintaining a safe working environment for yourself and fellow workers.

Additional Expectations

  • Demonstrated aptitude for the trade through training, and field performance.
  • Ability to perform hands-on skill demonstrations showing proficiency in electrical troubleshooting and repair.
