Facilities Maintenance Assistant II
About the role
Amentum is seeking a Facilities Maintenance Assistant II to join our team in Winston Salem, NC. This entry level position specializes in DCR – Drain, Clean, and Refill CNC Machines to remove and recycle coolant, clean the machine of metal chips, and refill with coolant. It also involves changing machine filters and other duties assigned to keep machines running at their optimum. Technicians are responsible for providing an entry level of expertise in responding to work orders, troubleshooting, and providing preventive and corrective maintenance on the production equipment and systems in an industrial manufacturing environment.
Schedule
- Monday–Friday, 11:00 PM – 7:30 AM (3rd Shift)
- Hours may vary based on business demand
- Weekend hours may be scheduled to support our 24/7 operation
Responsibilities
- Perform all aspects of preventive and corrective maintenance on all production related industrial systems as instructed, including but not limited to: CNC machinery, robotics, pneumatics, hydraulics, conveyors, and coolant systems
- Work alongside other skilled technicians
- Effectively communicate with the site maintenance management team
- Solve basic intermediate electrical and mechanical problems and provide solutions to manufacturing problems
- Identify any safety-related issues and correct or escalate them as appropriate
- Perform preventive maintenance on process/production equipment as scheduled in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
- Respond to and provide service and feedback to management on all work orders while assuring compliance with codes, regulations, and industry standards
- Analyze and resolve work problems or assist workers in solving work problems
- Understand company policies and enforce safety regulations
- Safely perform functions of the position including following proper safety guidelines such as job hazard analysis and lockout/tag out procedures and wearing PPE as required
- Prepare/complete assigned tasks in conformance with applicable procedure requirements provided by the supervisor
- Coordinate work with others in discipline groups and other discipline groups on the project
- Responsible for neatness and accuracy of work
- May train other technicians
- Provide technical guidance and assistance to less experienced personnel
- Perform other tasks as requested by management
- Maintain good attendance, punctuality, and work ethic
Requirements
- High school diploma or demonstrated equivalent
- 1–3 years of work experience preferred performing general maintenance repair in an industrial environment or demonstrated equivalent combination of education and experience
- Must be willing to work overtime when required
- May be required to work holidays and weekends
- Ability to perform geometric checks and adjustments on CNC machines
Physical requirements
- Requires the ability to regularly lift up to 50 lbs
- Requires the ability to regularly climb extension ladders, roof ladder, stepladders, and stairs at least 10 times during shift
- Requires the flexibility to bend/stoop, squat repetitive during shift
- Requires the ability to regularly kneel repetitive for shift
- Requires the ability to move in a 90-degree fashion on a repetitive basis for shift
- Requires the ability to stretch/reach on a repetitive basis for shift
- Requires the ability to walk extensively throughout the plant during shift
- Requires the ability to differentiate colors pertaining to wire color-coding
- Some tasks will require repetitive wrist movement
- Requires the ability to interact with all clients in a professional and friendly manner despite periods of stress
Special requirements
- Wear steel toe safety shoes, safety glasses, gloves, hard hats and other Personal Protective Equipment as needed
- Cope with demands (stressors) that are associated with the job and/or the work environment so that acceptable levels of performance and overall contribution are maintained
Pay
$21.00 per hour. The compensation range or hourly rate listed for this position is provided as a good-faith estimate of what the company intends to offer for this role at the time this posting was issued. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as job responsibilities, education, experience, skills, internal equity, market data, applicable collective bargaining agreements, and relevant laws.
