Facilities Gas Chemical Technician

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe workplace
  • Operate and control gas/chemical distribution systems
  • Perform rounds and readings of gas/chemical distribution equipment
  • Perform gas/chemical container change outs
  • Make recipe adjustments to ensure correct gas/chemical concentrations
  • Set up and adjust indicating and controlling devices
  • Draw samples of product and perform analyses
  • Patrol area to inspect equipment for leaks and hazards
  • Ensure processing conditions and process output are within regulatory limits
  • Perform emergency and corrective maintenance actions
  • Perform preventive maintenance procedures
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot practices to determine root cause and corrective actions
  • Perform ERT duties as an essential part of the role

Requirements

  • High School graduation or GED
  • Technical College or Trade Program preferred
  • Experience with laboratory or analytical equipment preferred
  • Previous knowledge in operation of industrial and/or commercial processing equipment preferred
  • Five years’ experience with process piping systems, working in an industrial setting preferred
  • Competency in basic mathematic skills including fractions, addition, subtraction, division

Qualifications

  • Follow all safety policies and procedures at all times
  • Ability to read, interpret, and understand engineering drawings and specifications
  • Ability to work cooperatively with other technicians, supervisors, engineers, and managers
  • Sound decision making skills
  • Effective written, verbal, presentation, and listening communications skills
  • Computer skills including the ability to operate Corporate email, spreadsheets, word processing, engineering drawing databases at a highly proficient level
  • Willingness and ability to work overtime when needed for business purposes, or to be called-in to work in the event of emergency or business needs
  • Capable of working independently and exhibit effective time management skills
  • Capable of safely climbing ladders, and working at elevation from ladders, scaffolding, lifts, roofs, or platforms, and the ability to work in confined spaces

Benefits

Additional duties based on business needs, including ERT.

The position will come in contact with sharp, hot, and cold equipment, and parts. Must be medically qualified to wear a personal respirator.

May spend extended hours working inside and outside in all weather conditions, and in awkward body positions which can cause physical discomfort and strain. Required to regularly lift up to 50 lbs and to adjust heavy objects.

Sensory demands include exposure to the smells associated with industrial chemical operations, exposure to the sounds associated with powered tools and industrial equipment.

Must have the ability to safely climb ladders, and work at elevation from ladders, scaffolding, lifts, roofs, or platforms, and the ability to work in confined spaces.

Contributes recommendations and suggestions for work method improvements, safety, materials, and tools.

The Gas/Chemical Technician must have an appropriate focus on personal, process, and work force safety.

Attributes should include honesty, trustworthiness, respect for others, flexibility, and sound workplace ethics.

Duties will include any and all other directions of supervision that can safely be performed by the incumbent.
