Gas System Technician

The Position

The purpose of this classification is to perform advanced technical work that involves installing, inspecting, maintaining, testing, and repairing assorted natural gas equipment as well as adjusting and monitoring gas pressure and volume in the natural gas system.

Responsibilities

• Installs, maintains, tests, repairs, adjusts, and inspects reliefs, regulators, control valves, meters, and stations;
• Reads and interprets monthly charts and reports;
• Computes bills;
• Prepares and processes necessary paperwork and reports as required by department policies and procedures;
• Receives calls and prepares work orders;
• Collaborates and performs any field work or troubleshooting required with SCADA System Operators on the SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) system.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED;
• Three (3) years experience in the testing, maintenance, and repair of regulators, reliefs, control valves, meters and assorted equipment in the SCADA network;
• A valid driver’s license;
• To be required to obtain a valid State of Louisiana driver’s license at time of appointment and maintain throughout employment for this classification;
• To obtain certifications as required by the Office of Pipeline Safety within six months of hire.
