Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain the wastewater system in compliance with site and environmental standards, including pH adjustment, discharge monitoring, and daily log documentation.
- Perform electrical and mechanical troubleshooting on boilers, wastewater systems, and utility equipment to support safe and reliable operation.
- Operate, inspect, and maintain pumps, valves, controllers, and utility infrastructure to ensure proper performance and minimize downtime.
- Document all work performed and communicate system or equipment concerns promptly to the Maintenance Manager.
- Follow all safety, environmental, and operational procedures for wastewater, utilities, and facility systems.
- Maintain chemical handling practices, including labeling, storage, and adherence to SDS and PPE requirements.
- Aid in maintaining preventive maintenance efforts, including filter changes, pump inspections, and utility system adjustments.
- Assist with maintaining housekeeping standards in utility, wastewater, and equipment areas.
Qualifications
- You Must Have:
- An associate's degree in a related field.
- 2+ years of experience in a related role.
- Relevant experience can be considered as a substitute for the required educational qualifications.
- In the absence of a degree, a minimum of 2 years of related experience is required.
- A basic understanding of building systems and maintenance principles.
- Experience working with wastewater systems or plant utilities.
- Knowledge of mechanical and electrical troubleshooting for equipment operation.
- A strong attention to detail and commitment to safe work practices.
- The ability to maintain accurate documentation and communicate clearly with maintenance and safety leadership.
- The ability to obtain, within 6 months of hire, a Maryland State Certificate as an Industrial Wastewater Works Operator, Class 1, issued by the Maryland Board of Waterworks and Waste Systems Operators (COMAR 26.06.01).
- A valid driver's license.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience with AutoCAD.
- Basic Microsoft Word and Excel skills.
- The ability to alter and create 2-dimensional floor plan drawings.
- The ability to obtain and maintain a Security Clearance.
Qualifications We Prefer
- Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
- Certification in Facilities Management (e.g., IFMA CFM, FMP).
- Possession of a Maryland State Certificate as an Industrial Wastewater Works Operator, Class 1, issued by the Maryland Board of Waterworks and Waste Systems Operators (COMAR 26.06.01).
- A basic knowledge or proficiency with basic building utilities and equipment.
- Practical familiarization with standard project management principles.
- Prior experience with understanding utility and space requirements as applicable to construction documents and equipment installation.
- A fundamental understanding of the considerations applicable to facility layout & design, adjacencies, work flow and basic lean manufacturing and waste minimization concepts.
- OSHA 30 card.
- A background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry, the US Department of Defense or US Military.
