About the role

The Facilities Engineer plays a crucial role in the maintenance and improvement of buildings and infrastructure at Toyota Material Handling. Key responsibilities include developing specifications, working with vendors, overseeing utility operations, and managing capital projects.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and maintains building specifications, works with vendors to obtain quotes, and gains approval for large-scale projects such as new buildings, additions, site development, and equipment upgrades.
  • Oversees the operation of utilities and drives continuous improvement initiatives through kaizen activities or large-scale improvements.
  • Collaborates with internal customers to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and meet quality standards.
  • Plans and coordinates carbon dioxide reduction activities aligned with the company's zero emissions goal.
  • Manages building management systems for lighting, HVAC control, and compressed air.
  • Manages capital projects exceeding $5 million.
  • Oversees dock installations, overhead door repairs, pedestrian door installations, and plant aisle installations.
  • Develops roadmaps for all facilities areas.
  • Works in a state of alertness and follows safety protocols.

Requirements

  • Associate or Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology (mechanical/industrial/electrical/construction management).
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in engineering and facility management.
  • Strong technical experience with troubleshooting and hands-on work.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in computer skills, including report preparation and justification writing.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with all levels of the organization.

Skills

  • Advanced/Trainer in Cap Ex project management.
  • Intermediate ability in management of outside contractors.
  • Intermediate level in new buildings for manufacturing, testing, and warehousing.
  • Advanced/Trainer in HVAC equipment and programming.
  • Intermediate in energy management and CO2 reduction activities.
  • Advanced/Trainer in plant utilities such as electrical, gas, water, and compressed air.
  • Advanced/Trainer in docks, overhead doors, pedestrian doors, and plant aisles installation and repairs.
  • Advanced/Trainer in roadmap planning for all facilities areas.

Pay

$83,000 - $120,000 per year, depending on education and experience.
