Responsibilities
- Work with the Director of Facilities Engineering and Facility Manager to ensure plant utility systems for RO/DI/WFI water, plant steam, pure steam, hot/chilled water, compressed air, HVAC, electrical, refrigeration, and support infrastructure services are operating per procedure, within regulatory guidelines, and per good manufacturing practices.
- Aid as needed with facility, expansion, and capital upgrade projects.
- Drive continuous improvement by providing recommendations and initiatives to promote energy and water sustainability, safety, maximize asset reliability, and operational cost to drive operational excellence in utilities operation.
- Participate in audit readiness by complying with effective standards, regulatory/statutory, and cGMP requirements to protect product. Assist in audit finding resolutions.
- Align financial objectives through efficient utility operation, cost improvement actions, and optimal expenditure options for capital projects.
- Collaborate with Utilities department staff to sustain safe, reliable, and efficient utilities operations, and to troubleshoot complex problems in utility systems.
- Provide engineering support to department management to organize and implement routine PM work and required shutdowns.
- Improve facility/utility operational procedures to maintain compliance with regulatory codes, safety, and budgetary requirements.
- Establish spare part lists and effective inventory levels to ensure maximum equipment uptime of current and new utilities systems.
- Drive/assess technical changes through Change Management Process.
- Support Engineering, site expansion, and other ad hoc projects.
- Undertake tasks assigned by leaders as and when appropriate.
- Works on-call to respond to emergency calls as required.
Qualifications
- BS degree in Electrical or Industrial Engineering with at least 5 years of relevant experience.
- Strong knowledge and hands-on experience in utilities operation, troubleshooting, and complex issue resolution in a manufacturing environment.
- Operating experience with RO/DI/WFI water and steam generation systems, compressed air and hot/chilled water systems, commercial HVAC and industrial refrigeration systems, and electrical/controls systems desired.
- Familiarity with Carrier and Trane BMS, and Distech, Reliance Controls, and Allen-Bradley automation systems desired.
- Possess an understanding of control systems, including actuators and valves, sensors, and automation controls, and their function in HVAC and automated systems.
- Able to read and understand systems drawings and specifications.
- Experience with start-up, commissioning, and qualification (FAT/SAT) of utilities equipment, including requirements for documentation and testing.
- Able to work independently, self-starter, self-motivated, and task-oriented.
- Able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, maintain detailed and accurate records, and prepare clear and concise written reports.
- Familiarity with computer programs including AutoCAD, Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Visio, and PowerPoint.
