Our Facilities Department is currently seeking a 2nd Shift Facilities Engineer to join our growing team in our Worcester, MA office.
Responsibilities
- Proficient in the operation of all types of hand and power tools and equipment.
- Ensures all work orders are completed on and closed with all appropriate documentation within the time constraints of the request.
- Routine daily checks of equipment.
- Performs in-depth and detailed maintenance work including installing, operating, and maintaining all equipment and components that support the facility.
- These include HVAC systems, building management systems, chillers, boilers, emergency generators and compressed air systems.
- Performs preventive maintenance on all base building and critical system equipment such as: assembling all tools, supplies and instruments necessary to complete the job, performing work with a minimum amount disruption, conducting immediate cleanup of work area, completing the preventive task sheet, returning tools to workshop, and unused supplies to store room, reporting any equipment problems, impending supply or material shortages.
- Reads and interprets equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
- Detects faulty operations and/or defective equipment and repairs or reports those and any unusual situations to proper supervision.
- May adjust functional parts of mechanical devices as necessary.
- May assemble and install mechanical and electromechanical equipment and systems.
- May troubleshoot and repair equipment and systems requiring the isolation of the malfunction, disassembly of equipment and repair/replacement of bearings, power transfer apparatus, structural components and the like.
- Complies with all applicable local, state and national codes.
- Responsible for overseeing the activities of contractors operating within the buildings and coordinate services with outside vendors and contractors.
- Oversees some critical equipment such as fire/life safety alarm and suppression systems, elevator preventive and corrective maintenance etc.
Requirements
- Has prior safety training such as NFPA 70e and OSHA10 Education - Minimum of a high school diploma.
- College/Technical Degree preferred.
- Massachusetts driver’s license.
- Satisfies apprenticeship requirements or greater.
- Knowledge and understanding of applicable local, state and national codes.
- Ability to follow and understand construction drawings and diagrams.
- Typically has 2-5 years of related experience.
- Has completed or is completing licensure in specific trade (e.g. journeyman) and / or taken relevant training.
- Applies advanced skills in area of specialization.
- May adapt procedures, processes and techniques to accomplish the requirements of the position.
- Duties and tasks are varied and moderately complex.
- Resolves most questions and problems, and refers only the most complex issues to higher levels.
- Works under minimal supervision.
- May periodically assist in orienting, training, assigning and checking the work of less experienced employees.
Qualifications
- Work hours may include days and evenings on weekdays and weekends.
- Ability to stand or walk for prolonged periods of time.
- Ability to lift and carry heavy objects (up to 100lbs) 25-50% of time.
Skills
- Manual dexterity.
- Ability to operate a motor vehicle.
- Ability to work cooperatively.
- Ability to repeatedly bend, twist, stoop, kneel, crawl, squat ETC. for extended periods of time (25%-75% of time).
- Ability to climb to heights (e.g. ladder) and maintain balance for extended periods while performing work tasks.
- Ability to operate hand and power tools.
- Ability to report to work in adverse weather conditions.
- Ability to perform work tasks in adverse weather conditions.
- Ability to perform work tasks in a loud/noisy work environment.
- May be exposed to a variety of chemicals.
