Essential Functions
- Prepare engineering reports, design calculations, drawings, and technical specifications related to pipeline and facility design and construction
- Read and create process flow diagrams and P&IDs
- Ability to direct and manage the piping design of pipelines and facilities
- Capable, or at least understand the basics, of sizing and selecting equipment including pumps, control valves, oil & gas separators, scrubbers, treaters, etc.
- Understand the basics of instrumentation and interface with control systems engineers
- Review and/or approve vendor drawings for compliance with project specifications
- Visit job-sites to evaluate site, project requirements, and conditions. Visit vendor facilities to inspect equipment for compliance with requirements/specifications
- Experience with Hydraulic modeling and pipe stress analyses
- Work both independently and alongside an engineering team to develop both high level and detailed design of mechanical piping systems
- Interface with other disciplines on a multi-disciplinary team (survey, structural, electrical, and/or instrumentation)
- Develop construction drawing packages and contractor specifications for oil and gas pipeline and facility projects
- Report job activity and maintain detailed logs about work activities, reporting to project managers and executive management
- Identify opportunities for improvement of work products and standards
- Meet deadlines working on multiple projects and/or with multiple clients with minimum supervision and take responsibility for planning and prioritizing tasks
- Maintain a high standard of work performance and ensuring that all done is in accordance with the standards of the company and client
- Strong communications skills and ability to interact directly with clients, suppliers, upper management, and construction personnel
Qualifications
- Minimum Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years experience in the project and detailed engineering of oil & gas upstream and/or midstream related facilities
- Ability to read and understand: P&IDs, piping drawings, specifications and related codes and standards
- Ability to communicate effectively with others verbally and in writing
- Must be Able to Work for any US Employer
- Preferred Qualifications:
- 10+ years of experience
- Medium/large multi-discipline project lead experience
- Pipeline route development and alignment sheet review
- Permitting experience for development of new oil and gas facilities or pipelines
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree from an ABET accredited university in Mechanical, Civil, Chemical, or Petroleum Engineering
Certification/License
- PE preferred
Physical Expectations
- Must be able to lift objects weighing up to 50lbs
- Must be able to stand, kneel, and walk for long periods of time
- Must pass background check and be able to pass both a pre-employment & random drug test(s)
- Must be able to travel occasionally up to 25% including overnight travel to various locations & customer sites to provide service based on business needs
- Duties performed indoors & outdoors with exposure to weather and elements.
