About the role
The Facilities Engineer will support the installation and operation of new and existing equipment within the facilities. This includes systems such as compressed air, vacuum, process gases, chillers, cleanrooms, HVAC, and controls (Building Automation Systems).
Responsibilities
- Deliver strong project leadership skills through the project initiation, planning, implementation, and closeout phases.
- Develop project concepts, scopes, estimates, schedules, design, installation & startup documentation.
- Exercise good judgment, sound engineering principles, and utilize structured problem-solving techniques.
- Lead, guide, coach, and help develop internal Corning & contingent employees as well as external contractors.
- Procure goods and services through internal procurement buyers and systems.
- Manage new equipment design projects to ensure timely drawing completion, material sourcing, fabrication, testing, shipment, and installation/commissioning.
- Collaborate with scientists and process experts as part of the engineering process.
- Collaborate with manufacturing operations to further define and receive new and modified process equipment.
- Observe and define incremental facilities and process equipment improvements.
- Lead small design teams, conduct manufacturing experiments, evaluate vendors/suppliers.
- Supervise equipment installation and on-site commissioning as required.
- Leverage Building Management System and PI data to review equipment performance, verify correct operation of equipment, and identify improvement opportunities.
- Provide hands-on support to assist with troubleshooting facilities-related equipment as required.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering / Engineering Technology or similar
- 5+ years of engineering & professional work experience
- Construction and facility system experience (HVAC, Chillers, Compressed Air, Vacuum, Controls, etc.)
- Excellent project leadership, engineering, installation and start-up skills
- Able to trouble shoot, solve problems & engage others for additional support if needed
- Problem solving skills leveraging structured methods such as K-T (DA, PPA, RA), DESGN & DMAIC
- Excellent communication, social & soft skills
- Excellent presentation skills
- Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
Desired Skills
- Proficient in AutoCad, Solidworks, or similar CAD software
- Building Automation System Experience (Allen Bradley SCADA, Siemens, Trane, etc.)
- Experience with MS Project & SharePoint
- Experience with Lean Construction techniques
- Experience in optical manufacturing
- Experience with CNC equipment
- Project estimating, forecasting and scheduling experience
Pay
The range for this position is $81,602.00 - $112,204.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
Schedule
Normal Business Hours (8 – 5, M – F): however, expected to work hours required to achieve objectives. Flexibility is required. Includes overtime, weekend and off-shift hours.
