Facilities Dispatcher/Scheduler - On Call

About the Role
Multnomah County’s Facilities and Property Management (FPM) team operates 24/7/365 and is seeking an On-Call Facilities Dispatcher. This fast-paced role requires a responsive problem-solver who thrives on delivering exceptional customer service, managing multiple priorities, and learning building systems. You’ll tackle unique challenges and jump in whenever time-sensitive priorities arise.
In addition to the hourly rate, On-Call employees receive a $1.50 differential in lieu of benefits and are paid at time-and-a-half for all hours worked on New Year’s Day, MLK Jr. Day, President’s Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, July 4th, Labor Day, Veteran’s Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas.
Applicants must be willing and able to work a variety of shifts—including weekends, holidays, and continuous coverage—with schedules arranged in advance or on short notice, similar to substitute teaching. Hours vary weekly.
Responsibilities
- Receive and prioritize high-volume phone calls, emails, and maintenance requests for County buildings while providing exceptional customer service.
- Establish initial prioritization and scheduling by assessing severity and impact of issues.
- Generate and track computer-based (TRIRIGA) work orders from initial receipt to closure.
- Create equipment and building maintenance plans.
- Communicate with trades, Property Managers, Project Managers, and other stakeholders via email, phone, and text regarding work assignments.
- Support tracking of assets, inventory, and processing of invoices.
- Monitor personnel locations to coordinate services and scheduling.
- Provide counter-service to internal and external clients.
- Coordinate Countywide inclement weather and snow removal response.
- Advise County leadership of emergency situations via Everbridge.
- Coordinate schedules and perform miscellaneous clerical tasks such as creating forms, compiling data, and reporting using Google Docs, Calendar, and spreadsheets.
Operationally Essential Position: Employees designated as operationally essential (“Essential”) are required to report for duty regardless of facility closure or curtailment of County operations.
Requirements
We will consider any combination of relevant work experience, volunteering, education, and transferable skills unless labeled required.
- Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade.
- Proven track record of 3 years delivering customer service using computer-based support systems.
- Ability and willingness to work a variety of shifts, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Demonstrated working knowledge of Google documents and calendaring.
Preferred Qualifications
You do not need the following to qualify, but we may consider them when identifying the most qualified candidates.
- Experience and/or training in a computer-based work order management system, preferably TRIRIGA.
- Knowledge and experience building reports with Excel or Google Sheets.
- At least 1 year of experience in building maintenance, property management, or equivalent related field.
Pay
$35.87 - $44.13 hourly. Overtime eligible based on FLSA.
Schedule
On-call model with variable shifts, including weekends, holidays, and continuous coverage. Shifts may be scheduled in advance or on short notice, with total hours varying week to week.
