About the Role

We are seeking a strategic, results-driven leader who thrives in complex environments and leads with accountability, innovation, and a safety-first mindset. This role oversees Skilled Trades, Maintenance, and Grounds operations and partners closely with educational leaders to align facilities strategy with institutional goals while driving operational excellence, financial stewardship, safety, and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and recommend department operating budgets, ensuring adherence to financial constraints while optimizing operational efficiency.
  • Coordinate operations and maintenance activities with other departments to streamline workflows and enhance productivity.
  • Actively engage with clients to maintain open lines of communication and ensure satisfaction.
  • Lead and coordinate all functions and activities of the department, fostering accountability and excellence.
  • Establish and implement policies and procedures for departmental operations, ensuring compliance with regulatory agencies.
  • Encourage and mentor staff creativity and innovation, empowering contribution by team members toward continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Demonstrate quality leadership in meeting performance plans, getting results, and exceeding expectations.
  • Provide training and development opportunities for staff members, cultivating their professional growth and skills enhancement.
  • Conduct regular inspections of facilities to uphold quality control procedures and identify areas for improvement.
  • Assist in the development and revision of annual budgets, aligning financial strategies with organization goals.
  • Maintain direct communication with varying levels of administration, including clients and vendors, to address business needs promptly and effectively.
  • Ensure the facility's strategic objectives are clearly defined and achieved, driving operational excellence and client satisfaction.
  • Secure and maintain company capital assets in first-class working condition, optimizing their lifespan and functionality.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience preferred
  • Five+ years of management experience in maintenance/facilities management or other service-related field with high customer/client contact required
  • Budgeting, forecasting experience is preferred
  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize
  • Ability to maintain organization in a changing environment
  • Exhibits initiative, responsibility and leadership
  • Proficient in the use of Windows based office software including but not limited to Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Proven track record of working effectively in an unstructured and fast-paced environment
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record, ensuring safe operation of company vehicles in accordance with traffic laws and conditions.
