Facilities Custodian

About the role

The Facilities Custodian is a vital member of our team who ensures that our facility is maintained to the highest cleanliness standards. You will facilitate the day-to-day upkeep of our distribution center to provide a safe and clean environment for all associates so that operations run smoothly. Responsibilities

• Ensure the Distribution/Crossdock operations areas are maintained to company cleanliness standards with minimal supervision
• Use power equipment including walk-behind scrubbers, power scrubber/polishers, wet/dry vacuum cleaners, and portable as well as stationary power pressure washers
• Perform outside maintenance and grounds work as needed
• Ensure equipment is cleaned and stored properly following use
• Notify appropriate personnel concerning the need for major repairs to building operating systems or equipment
• Requisition supplies and equipment needed for cleaning and maintenance duties
• Empty wastebaskets and trash/recycling bins in kitchen and office areas and transport waste to the disposal area
• Replenish bathroom supplies such as paper towels, toilet paper, hand soap, hand sanitizer, and air fresheners
• Maintain the cleanliness of common areas including kitchens and breakrooms by cleaning, wiping, or polishing refrigerators, microwaves, toaster ovens, glass windows, cabinets, countertops, doors, mirrors, displays, and hanging pictures
• Rotate through different departments as necessary to meet business demands
• Participate in ongoing training regarding technology upgrades and new systems applicable to the position
• Perform all job tasks assigned by leadership staff to achieve and maintain daily productivity and quality goals

Requirements

• Ability to use power equipment such as walk-behind scrubbers, power scrubber/polishers, wet/dry vacuum cleaners, and portable as well as stationary power pressure washers
• Physical demands requiring concentration, visual and auditory acuity, muscle coordination, attention to detail, and constant awareness of surroundings
• Ability to perform multiple tasks requiring repetitive motion
• Knowledge of janitorial supplies and chemicals, including hazardous materials
• Understanding of training and communication resources relevant to the position
• Maintain awareness of loss prevention, security, and safety following company guidelines
• Basic English language proficiency preferred

Preferred qualifications

• 1+ year of related housekeeping or janitorial experience
