Facilities Custodian

About the role

You will support the day-to-day cleanliness, readiness, and overall upkeep of the facility. This position focuses on high-quality custodial servicing, routine inspections, and operational support to ensure a safe and well-maintained environment.

Responsibilities

• Clean and sanitize office areas, conference rooms, restrooms, and high-touch surfaces.
• Maintain hangar, warehouse, and shop floors, including operation of a motorized floor scrubber.
• Perform routine sweeping, mopping, dusting, vacuuming, and general interior cleaning tasks.
• Empty and replace trash and recycling receptacles throughout the facility.
• Wash interior and exterior windows as assigned.
• Conduct routine facility inspections to identify cleaning needs, safety hazards, or issues requiring escalation.
• Support internal relocations, event setups, office moves, and basic furniture configuration (chairs, tables, small modular pieces).
• Pick up supplies from approved local vendors as requested.
• Maintain and properly store cleaning equipment and ensure supplies are stocked.
• Assist the Facilities team with other operational tasks as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
• Prior custodial or facilities support experience is beneficial but not required.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness.
• Ability to follow established cleaning procedures and safety practices.
• Professional communication and customer service orientation.
• Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-moving operational environment.
• Capability to read and understand cleaning instructions, safety rules, and SDS documents.
• Valid Michigan driver's license with acceptable driving record.
• Regularly required to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and reach.
• Ability to lift or move up to 50 lbs. routinely; up to 75 lbs. with assistance on occasion.
• Comfortable operating custodial machinery and equipment.
• Able to work in an aviation-driven environment with varying temperatures and noise levels.

Work is performed in offices, hangars, restrooms, break areas, and warehouse environments with exposure to cleaning chemicals, noise, and active operational areas. Personal protective equipment (PPE) is provided and required where applicable.

Schedule

Monday–Friday, 2:00 PM–10:00 PM.
