Qualifications

Education and Experience: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in architecture; fire protection; or architectural, civil, electrical, fire protection, mechanical, systems or industrial engineering or related engineering degree dealing with building construction and experience equivalent to four years in one or a combination of the following areas:

  • any engineering or architectural work;
  • experience in construction design using structural components, or the management of commercial or governmental construction projects;
  • any skilled work in carpentry, plumbing, electrical, inspection or other related building maintenance or construction trades work under the supervision of a licensed contractor;
  • any licensed building maintenance or construction trades work;
  • the supervision of staff involved with building or transportation maintenance.

Substitution of Education for Experience: Graduate course work received from an accredited college or university in architecture, fire protection and/or a related engineering degree dealing with building construction may substitute for the required experience on a month-for-month basis to a maximum of one year (e.g., 36 graduate hours in architecture and/or a pertinent engineering science may substitute for the one year of required experience).

Substitution of Experience for Education: Qualifying experience in one or a combination of the following areas may substitute for the required education on a year basis to a maximum of four years:

  • engineering or architectural work;
  • experience in construction design using structural components, or the management of commercial or governmental construction projects;
  • any skilled work in carpentry, plumbing, electrical, inspection of other related building maintenance or construction trades work under the supervision of a licensed contractor;
  • any licensed building maintenance or construction trades work;
  • the supervision of staff involved with building or transportation maintenance (e.g., experience equivalent to one year of full-time work in one or a combination of the above listed fields may substitute for one year of the required education).

Overview

The position with the Facilities Maintenance office serves as a project manager and building inspector responsible for maintenance and construction projects, as well as regulatory compliance covering multiple parks in the upper East Tennessee region. While this is a remote position, daily travel to assigned parks and job sites will be required.

Responsibilities

All aspects of project management, including troubleshooting, scope, writing technical specifications, quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC), contracts, and project documentation.

Cover conduct facility assessments and code/safety compliance assistance.

Cover conduct accessibility inspections and ensure compliance.

Cover conduct technical training and provide technical assistance.

Cover administer contracts and ensure compliance.

Cover assist with budget management and budget forecasting.

Cover maintain detailed electronic documentation records.

Cover assist with critical infrastructure management.

Cover assist efforts to reduce operating costs and life-cycle analysis.

Cover implement and monitor preventative maintenance program.
