Facilities Construction Mechanic - Skilled

About the role

The role of Construction Mechanic is that of a diversely skilled laborer. The successful candidate would have experience with concrete and masonry work, landscaping, fence repair, asphalt repair, work with catch basins and manholes, use of construction equipment, and deicing and snow removal. Additionally, trained Construction Mechanics operate EB’s water treatment plant and central waste facility.

Responsibilities

• Concrete and masonry work includes minor to moderate repairs.
• Landscaping work consists primarily of brush and weed clearing.
• Fence repair.
• Asphalt and catch basin work includes primarily cold patch of potholes, curb repairs and basin cleaning and repair.
• Work with catch basins and manholes.
• Use of construction and snow removal equipment including tractors, skid steers, gravely push brooms, snow blowers and sweepers.
• Deicing and snow removal operations.
• Operate EB’s water treatment plant and central waste facility.
• Opportunities may be available to receive training to operate the bilge plant and central waste facility.
• Perform snow removal and deicing operations.
• Other facility related assignments may be required.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma, equivalent or 2+ years of technical experience.
• 5+ years of construction, facilities and/or maintenance experience.
• Willing to work daily and weekend overtime as requested in support of snow removal and deicing operations.

Preferred

• Central Waste Facility experience.
• Water Treatment Plant Operations experience.
• Sweeper experience.
• Gravely plow and broom operations experience.
• Whacker Neuson tractor experience.
• Kubota operating license.
• Previous experience in bilge plant or central waste facility is a plus.
