FACILITIES ATTENDANT - OVERNIGHT
About the Role
Perform a variety of custodial and general housekeeping duties involving the care, cleaning, and stocking of supplies in College buildings, offices, and residential areas. Provide customer service to assist in promoting a hospitable environment and positive perceptions of College facilities. This position is considered essential during emergency situations, and the incumbent may be required to report to work.
Responsibilities
- Maintain the safety, cleanliness, and order of indoor campus facilities, including cleaning floors, walls, furniture, and windows in all campus buildings, student dorms, and apartments.
- Conduct routine maintenance and upkeep, such as changing light bulbs and clock batteries, resetting clocks, and refilling toilet paper/paper towels.
- Maintain the cleanliness of flooring and furniture, including stripping and refinishing hard floor surfaces, buffing and burnishing hard floors, and operating shampoo and extraction equipment for carpets and furniture.
- Clean campus facilities after bio-hazards and/or traumatic events, properly disposing of trash and bio-hazardous materials.
- Clean custodial tools and equipment, inform supervisors of damage or replacement needs, and complete necessary paperwork, records, and logs.
- Maintain outdoor campus facilities, including cleaning building entrances, balconies, trash receptacles, and College-owned properties off-campus, as well as removing snow and ice from walkways and entryways.
- Unlock entrances to buildings and classrooms.
- Prepare for College events, including setting up event areas, arranging seating, pulling out bleachers for sporting events, and assisting with lighting and elevator operation.
- Provide hospitality services during the summer, including cleaning rooms, changing linens, making beds, and stocking supplies.
- Facilitate linen exchange and ensure timely turnover of facilities for incoming guests.
- Develop and demonstrate multicultural awareness, contributing to an inclusive, diverse, and respectful College community.
- Provide customer service to assist with the special needs of College visitors and promote a hospitable environment.
Qualifications
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and work with minimal supervision.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work respectfully within a diverse and inclusive environment.
- Familiarity with various cleaning agents and related equipment.
- Ability to lift and carry 40 lbs. and climb a 6-ft. ladder.
- Successfully pass a background check.
- A valid driver's license or the ability to obtain one is preferred but not required.
Work Environment
Most work is carried out in a generally accessible, safe, indoor environment. The incumbent will be issued and required to wear safety equipment such as goggles, gloves, and respirators. Exposure to distasteful elements and odors may occur when cleaning restrooms, bathrooms, and garbage facilities. Outdoor work includes removing snow and ice from walkways and entryways, with potential exposure to inclement weather. The position may require overtime, nights, and weekends, and is 40 hours per week, 52 weeks per year.
Pay
Hiring Rate: $17.00
