Facilities Associate- South DMV
About the role
Our Facilities Associates play a crucial role in maintaining two of our gyms in the DMV region and assisting at other gyms as needed. They collaborate with the Director team to ensure the gyms are always in excellent condition and prioritize emergency repairs.
Responsibilities
- Maintains all building systems and equipment in a fully functional state
- Proactively notices and addresses problems before they become critical
- Communicates facility project status effectively to directors and other stakeholders
- Advocates for facility improvements
- Performs general maintenance, including landscaping, painting, light carpentry, foam padding repairs and replacement, etc.
- Supervises and occasionally performs rope and anchors checks
- Ensures all work is performed in a safe manner and complies with safety requirements
- Responds to urgent maintenance needs according to Movement policy
- Keeps maintenance logs and reports on daily activities
- Manages relationships with contractors and service providers
- Monitors equipment inventory and places orders when necessary
- Coordinates monthly and annual maintenance calendar and facilities requests
- Develops and implements maintenance procedures
Requirements
- Full time hours with a flexible schedule
- Strong mechanical aptitude
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Able to work independently and align with gym and director goals
- Able to safely use and supervise use of power tools and ladders
- Able to keep track of and report on project status
- Organized and efficient, meeting deadlines
- Ability to perform rope access work and be comfortable working on ropes at height
- Responds to emails and other inquiries by the end of the business day
- Supports and embodies Movement's core values
- Computer skills (Word, Excel, Asana)
- Ability to work on a ladder and lift up to 50 lbs
- Have a valid driver's license and ability to travel to all region gyms
Qualifications
- Broad experience in facility maintenance including plumbing, carpentry, electrical, HVAC, and finish work
- Working knowledge of climbing gym floor and wall systems
- Experience maintaining rock climbing walls and climbing safety equipment
- Working knowledge of facilities machines and equipment, tools and devices

Pay
Base compensation for this role starts at $23.00 per hour. Pay is commensurate with experience.
Schedule
This role is based in our Rockville and Crystal City locations and may include work in Baltimore and optional travel to Philadelphia in addition to regular work here.
