Fabricator Coordinator

About the Role

The Maintenance Fabrication Coordinator is a member of the Maintenance Team, reporting directly to the Maintenance Manager. This role is responsible for designing, laying out, and installing new piping systems, coordinating and executing fabrication projects, and repairing and installing production machinery and mechanical equipment.

Responsibilities

• Design, lay out, fabricate, and install process and utility piping systems.
• Install, assemble, test, troubleshoot, and repair production machinery and equipment to minimize downtime and support operational efficiency.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on mechanical, hydraulic, steam, and basic electrical systems.
• Inspect machinery, process piping, and steam systems to identify signs of wear, malfunction, or failure.
• Diagnose equipment failures, determine root causes, and complete repairs in a timely manner.
• Perform emergency repairs on production equipment.
• Operate hoists, cranes, rigging equipment, forklifts, aerial lifts, and other material handling equipment.
• Perform MIG, TIG, and STICK welding, as well as oxyacetylene and plasma cutting.
• Read and interpret work orders, blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications.
• Coordinate fabrication projects from planning through completion.
• Collaborate with production teams, vendors, and suppliers.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives.
• Perform Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures and follow safety policies.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Strong mechanical and manufacturing experience.
• Experience with layout, fabrication, and installation of threaded and welded piping systems.

Skills and Competencies

• Knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, lubrication, and circulating systems.
• Proficiency in MIG, TIG, and STICK welding, especially with stainless steel.
• Proficiency in oxyacetylene and plasma cutting.
• Ability to troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and basic electrical systems.
• Ability to read blueprints, technical drawings, and software-based instructions.
• Basic mathematical skills.
• Experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
• Strong problem-solving and organizational skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Certifications/Licenses

• Ability to become qualified to operate forklifts, aerial lifts, cranes, and other lifting equipment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in food manufacturing or industrial processing environments.
• Experience with sanitary stainless-steel process piping and steam systems.
• Experience coordinating fabrication or maintenance projects.
• Experience using CMMS.

Working Conditions

• Ability to climb stairs, ladders, and work at heights up to 80 feet.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly.
• Ability to work in indoor and outdoor environments, including varying weather conditions.
• Ability to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as required.
• Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
• Ability to work in a loud manufacturing environment.
• Must provide a lockable toolbox and mechanic tool set meeting company standards.
