About the role

A Fabrication Technician will set up their production area by reading sketches and designs to determine the configuration of parts being produced. This includes modifying or creating programs as needed and operating CNC machines such as saws, brakes, panel masters, angle masters, and other machinery that punch, cut, shape, bend, or plasma cut different kinds of metal.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze drawings, sketches, and design data to determine dimensions and configurations of parts.
  • Compute angular and linear dimensions, radii, and curvatures, and outline the sequence of operations required to machine parts.
  • Maintain the operating condition of industrial production and processing machinery by cleaning, lubricating, and adjusting parts.
  • Revise programs to eliminate instruction errors or omissions.
  • Follow all safety rules and regulations, including reporting hazards, violations, or injuries to the Team Leader.
  • Operate safety equipment and maintain a safe working environment through good housekeeping practices.
  • Work overtime and weekends as required to meet customer needs.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED (preferred).
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Ability to add and subtract using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Proficiency in reading a tape measure in both metric and standard units.
  • Ability to use calipers.
  • Experience reading and interpreting blueprints (preferred).
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Must be able to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as metguard boots, protective eyewear, hard hats, gloves, and ear plugs.
