Fabrication Technician

About the role

Machine and Saw Operators are responsible for operating finishing machines and executing finish fabrication for projects including assembly, specialty builds, saw and cutting machines, etc., to create high-quality production based on clients' specifications.

Responsibilities

• Set up, adjust, and operate equipment to cut materials including metal to specifications
• Organize and package completed pieces per order
• Read and interpret work orders, blueprints, and measurement tools
• Inspect materials for defects and ensure precise cuts to minimize waste
• Collaborate with management and other operators to ensure deadlines are met
• Perform routine and preventive maintenance on all assigned equipment
• Follow all safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe work environment
• Ensures good housekeeping practices are followed
• Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

• A high school diploma or equivalent required
• Effective communications skills with all levels within the organization
• Basic computer and math skills
• Previous experience with hand tools
• Ability to read and use a tape measure
• Self-motivated, reliable, quality, and safety oriented
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task
• Attention to detail and ability to problem solve

Physical Requirements

• Requires use of proper body mechanics with pushing, pulling, reaching, lifting, squatting, kneeling and bending
• Pushing/pulling and lifting up to 50 lbs
• Requires fine motor hand and arm movement, manual dexterity and coordination
• Requires near visual acuity
• Requires working around and operating departmental equipment
• Requires the ability to function in a professional manner under stressful circumstances

Work Environmental Factors

• Occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles
• Exposure to hazardous materials
• Regularly works near moving mechanical parts
