About the Role

Performs work involved in fitting uniforms for new recruits, ensuring proper fit and completion.

Responsibilities

  • Measures new recruits for fitting of uniforms (complete uniforms, raincoats, jackets, pea coats, etc.).
  • Measures neck, sleeves, and waist.
  • Checks uniform for proper fit, ensuring uniforms are put on correctly before marking.
  • Marks garment at designated points for any alterations deemed necessary, such as length of trousers, sides, waist, and sleeves.
  • Forwards garments to the appropriate section for finishing alterations.
  • Inspects each completed uniform for final fitting.
  • Makes readjustments to fitting where required.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Physical Effort

  • Sits or stands for long periods with continual movement of hands, feet, arms, and fingers in placing items in position.

Working Conditions

Work is performed in well-lighted and ventilated areas.

Requirements

  • Twelve months of experience performing work involving garment fitting to ensure proper fit and upon alteration completion, including taking customer’s physical measurements and marking garments at designated points for alterations (e.g., length of trousers, sides, waist, and sleeves).

Substitution of Education for Experience: One year of high school education may be substituted for 3 months of experience, up to a High School Diploma or GED for 12 months of experience.

Schedule

Part-time (20 - 34.5 hours)
