About the role

The Assistant Professor of Curriculum and Instruction will teach courses in various programs including elementary education, special education, early childhood education, reading, and teacher education. The position is based on the Tahlequah campus, with occasional travel to other campuses.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and sustain a research agenda in an area of education
  • Teach a 12-hour load
  • Prepare curriculum that models the use of Oklahoma Academic Standards
  • Teach in multiple delivery modes (blended, online, face-to-face, arranged)
  • Prepare for and conduct class sessions and related activities that are relevant, challenging, and motivating, focusing on school reform, school improvement, and student-centered learning
  • Be available during office hours and enrollment periods for advisement of undergraduate and graduate students
  • Serve on College and University committees, participate in scholarly activities, and collaborate with area schools, community, and region to support the College and institution's mission

Requirements

  • Earned a doctorate in education from an accredited institution
  • Candidates with ABD status may be considered (salary/rank commensurate)
  • Ability to contribute to and encourage collegiality, professional development, and scholarly activity while balancing diverse needs
  • Higher education teaching experience in education preferred
  • At least three (3) years of teaching experience in a P-12 classroom using research-based teaching strategies
  • Current teaching license required
  • Experience in problem-based learning, teaching with distance learning technologies, and collaborative work

Qualifications

Qualified candidates will have earned a doctorate in education from an accredited institution. Candidates who are ABD in their doctorate may be considered (salary/rank commensurate).

Skills

Ability to contribute to and encourage collegiality, professional development, and scholarly activity while balancing the needs of a diverse faculty and student body. Higher education teaching experience in the field of education is preferred. Experience in problem-based learning, teaching with an array of distance learning technologies, and evidence of working collaboratively.

Pay

$56,770.00 with excellent benefits
