About the role
The Prep Cook reports to the Head Cook and performs a variety of tasks and duties including preparing, seasoning, and cooking food items while adhering to food safety standards.
Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with applicable laws and gaming regulations.
- Provide high-quality, fresh food items in a timely manner using standardized recipes.
- Replenish prep line food items as necessary.
- Prepare fruits and vegetables for serving.
- Operate a range of kitchen equipment.
- Taste check and sample prepared food items.
- Manage and maintain security of confidential information.
- Attend and complete required training.
- Monitor compliance with federal currency transaction reporting requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Minimum six (6) months experience as a cook or prep cook.
- Able to follow established recipes.
- Effective communication skills in English, both written and oral, preferred.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to maintain effective relationships with management and staff.
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced, stressful environment.
- Ability to meet multiple deadlines and multi-task.
- Strong critical thinking, analytical, and guest service skills.
- Positive attitude with strong organizational qualities.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw conclusions.
- Ability to establish and maintain professional relationships with individuals of varying social and cultural backgrounds.
- Ability to work effectively with individuals and demonstrate teamwork.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to follow and comply with established Casino guest service programs.
Qualifications
- Minimum six (6) months experience as a cook or prep cook.
- Able to follow established recipes.
- Effective communication skills in English, both written and oral, preferred.
- Spanish or other language skills a plus.

Physical Demands
- Regularly stand, sit, walk, push, pull, climb, bend for extended periods.

- Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
Work Environment
- Back of the house, casino floor, and normal office setting.
- Frequent walking and standing in a smoke-filled environment.
- Temperature-controlled environment with varying noise levels.
- Extended hours and irregular shifts may be required including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Must be able to perform under pressure and work long hours under stressful conditions.
- May be exposed to high levels of noise throughout the day.
- May be exposed to various types of lighting including, but not limited to: artificial fluorescent lights, flashing lights, strobe lights, multiple colored lights, etc.
- Travel may be required to perform one or more essential functions of this position.
