Full-time position reporting to the Front House Supervisor.
About the role
The Cashier/Server is responsible for providing fast, friendly, and courteous service while taking food and drink orders and serving guests. Monitor guest needs.
Responsibilities
- Adhere to all regulatory requirements from Gaming Commission, State, and Federal agencies.
- Follow departmental Internal Controls, Mistequa Casino Hotel Team Member Handbook, SMILE service standards, and Core Values.
- Maintain a positive and productive attitude with guests and team members.
- Take orders, serve guests, present checks, accept payments, and provide change.
- Operate a cash register (till).
- Learn the menu and garnishes; verify order accuracy before serving.
- Keep items stocked and maintain the beverage center.
- Stay informed about current Casino promotions and events; promote them to guests and encourage sign-ups for the players club.
- Serve alcoholic beverages following protocol, including assessing guest eligibility.
- Maintain a clean and orderly work station, buss tables, and clean the dining area.
- Work shifts and/or events at the Hotel as required.
- Ensure accuracy and thoroughness of departmental records and reports.
- Attend regularly scheduled departmental meetings to facilitate information flow.
- Assist in maintaining floor security by reporting suspicious activity to Management and Security.
- Work shift work, holidays, weekends, and special events.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age.
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Cash handling experience preferred.
- Excellent guest service skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team and independently with good judgment.
- Good math skills.
- Must obtain a food handlers card within 30 days of employment and keep it current.
- Must obtain a Class 12 servers permit within 30 days and keep it current.
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and handle periodic conditions of extreme urgency.
- Must be able to communicate effectively with team members, guests, and outside contacts.
- Must be able to move around all work areas effectively and efficiently.
Physical Demands
- Regularly required to talk or hear.
- Regularly required to stand or walk for long periods of time.
- Occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Frequently required to lift and carry up to 55 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, and color vision.
- May be required to taste or smell.
Work Environment
- Moderate to loud noise levels.
Regulatory and Compliance Responsibilities
- Must be 18 years of age to obtain and maintain a License D with Spokane Tribal Gaming Commission.
- Attend required training sessions offered by the Casino.
- Perform duties in compliance with local laws and regulations.
- Take necessary steps to ensure minors are not allowed to gamble, loiter in gambling areas, drink alcoholic beverages, or purchase tobacco.
- Knowledge of ordinances, regulations, laws, policies, and procedures relating to the department.
- Consult Internal Control Procedures and Policy Manuals for guidance.
- Report illegal activity to Security or appropriate levels of Management.
Pay
$17.13 per hour plus tips.
