Eyewear Consultant / Optician

Essential Responsibilities

• Aid patients in selecting spectacles, offering guidance on quality choices, lens selection, and frame style to suit their lifestyle and prescription.
• Calculate insurance co-pays based on insurance eligibility.
• Accurately enter spectacle orders and ensure timely delivery by monitoring their status daily.
• Receive spectacle orders into the system, verify them, inform patients, and schedule dispensing appointments.
• Contact patients for follow-up on their progress with dispensed eyewear and prescribed contact lenses.
• Perform spectacle adjustments and repairs when needed.
• Troubleshoot patient concerns regarding eyewear when necessary.
• Inform patients about the proper care of their prescribed eyewear.
• Maintain inventory for all aspects of the optical retail area, including lab supplies.
• Report inventory as required.
• Maintain displays of optical merchandise.
• Monitor patient flow during appointments, promptly communicating any delays to other departments.
• Assume other duties and responsibilities as directed by the doctor and practice leadership.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

• Physical Activity: Standing, walking, stooping, grasping, typing, and manual dexterity.
• Visual and verbal acuity required to assess the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work.
• Physical Requirements: Able to lift up to 15 pounds frequently, 5 pounds often, and 5 pounds occasionally.
• Work Environment: Professional medical office setting.
