Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Surgically procure donated human ocular tissue from cadavers (donors) following aseptic technique.
- Draw blood from donors to send for serologic testing.
- Obtain medical records from hospitals.
- Utilize computer software to complete real-time documentation of procured tissue.
- Participate in on-call schedule for ocular tissue recoveries
Recovery Support Tasks
- Maintain confidentiality of donor related information.
- Employ pre-determined shipping methods of recovered ocular tissue.
- Maintain inventory of surgical instruments, shipping supplies, and other equipment provided to complete recoveries.
- Performs other duties as needed or assigned.
What Else Should I Know?
This is an hourly, on-call position, scheduled for a minimum of 1-2 shifts/week; the weekly schedule will likely include weekends. Due to the nature of this work, this position is 100% in-person – remote work is not available for this role.
If you’ve never done this type of work before, not a problem! We will provide on-the-job training to give you the skills and knowledge needed to become an Eye Recovery Technician!
