Extrusion Technologist

As part of our specialized division, Kelly Science, we are currently seeking a highly skilled and motivated Extrusion Technologist to join our dynamic team at a renowned Fortune 500 Petrochemical in Baytown, TX.

This exciting long-term assignment offers the opportunity to work at the forefront of innovation in the OGP industry, contributing to impactful research projects in a collaborative and growth-focused environment. The Research & Development Laboratory Technologist will be responsible for operating and maintaining a variety of process instruments used in material sizing and thermal mixing.

Responsibilities

  • Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot lab scale process equipment used in R&D laboratories, including but not limited to: Jaw crusher, Cross-beater mill, Jet mill, Extruders of various sizes, Sieving units
  • Perform routine and non-routine sizing operations for materials to support research efforts
  • Take part in extrusion activities include operation and maintenance of equipment
  • Work with the broader section to maintain an enhance material inventory and tracking including using management software LIMS
  • Participate actively in the laboratory safety culture, following all HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) standards and contributing to safe lab operations
  • Support research portfolio activities, collaborating with scientists, engineers, and technicians on experimental design and data reporting
  • Conduct and support gMOCs (global Management of Change) and other administrative and documentation functions as required
  • Assist in maintaining laboratory readiness, including calibration schedules and documentation control
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance laboratory efficiency, data integrity, and research outcomes

Qualifications

Education: Associate’s degree in technical or scientific field. Recent graduates are strongly encouraged to apply; comprehensive training will be provided.

  • Strong technical aptitude and willingness to learn advanced laboratory and analytical techniques
  • Demonstrated ability to handle laboratory instruments and follow detailed technical procedures
  • Excellent data management, reporting, and documentation skills with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); experience with laboratory data systems or LIMS is a plus
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to work effectively in a collaborative, multidisciplinary research environment
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous professional development
