Extension Instructor or Open Rank Extension Educator 4-H Youth Development (Garden County)
Nebraska Extension is seeking a motivated individual to develop and deliver educational programs and resources in Garden and Morrill Counties. This role focuses on creating engaging learning opportunities for youth and adult volunteers, fostering leadership, and empowering young people to achieve their potential.
About the Role
This full-time, twelve-month, non-tenure track faculty position is based in Oshkosh, NE. The position title will be Extension Educator (for candidates with a graduate degree) or Extension Instructor (for candidates with an undergraduate degree).
- Extension Educator: A full-time, promotable, non-tenure track appointment.
- Extension Instructor: A full-time, non-promotable, non-tenure track appointment, renewable annually for up to five years. Instructors are expected to make satisfactory progress toward and complete a master’s degree within the initial five-year period. Upon completion, the position advances to Assistant Extension Educator.
As part of the Nebraska benefits package, UNL offers tuition remission for full-time employees, covering up to 15 credit hours per year.
Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver educational programs and resources within Garden and Morrill Counties.
- Create and implement focused learning experiences that inspire youth leadership and personal development.
- Collaborate with research and extension faculty to design and deliver innovative, world-class learning experiences.
- Work with high-performing teams to empower Nebraskans through education on critical issues.
- Engage with youth and youth organizations, applying principles of positive youth development and program management.
Requirements
- Extension Educator: Master’s degree in youth development, education, or a closely related field.
- Extension Instructor: Bachelor’s degree in youth development, education, or a closely related field. If hired as an instructor, the incumbent must make satisfactory progress toward and complete a master’s degree within the initial five-year appointment period.
- Successful experience teaching in a formal or non-formal setting.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively through publications, presentations, web, and social media.
- Experience working with youth and youth organizations, with an understanding of positive youth development and program management.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in teams, demonstrating strong leadership and organizational skills.
- Experience or training in the recruitment, training, mentoring, and management of volunteers.
- Ability to engage audiences from diverse backgrounds and socioeconomic statuses.
- Proficiency in a language other than English, with Spanish preferred.
