About the role

Oklahoma State University (OSU) Extension educators are the “front door” to the University, providing a link between OSU and the people of the state in all 77 Oklahoma counties. OSU Extension represents a federal, state, and county partnership working since 1914. The mission of OSU Extension is to disseminate information to the people of Oklahoma and encourage the adoption of research-generated knowledge. Extension educators provide research-based information to clientele in the areas of agriculture, family and consumer sciences, 4-H youth development, and community and rural development.

Responsibilities

  • Provides leadership to family and consumer sciences (FCS) and supports the 4-H youth development programs with approximately 90% of time spent in FCS and 10% of time spent in 4-H youth development work.
  • Participates as a cohesive OSU Extension team member to involve local clientele and advisory groups to plan, implement, and evaluate the total county program.
  • Must maintain cellular or other electronic communication device due to communication expectations of the position.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's in Family and Consumer Sciences, public health, or similar health-related field.
  • No FCS or Education Degree: Take two approved education courses (Pedagogy & Classroom Management) within two years, must pass APK and FCS OSAT.
  • No FCS Degree, but an Education Degree: Provide proof of passing PPAT or APK.
  • No FCS Degree, but alternatively certified in FCS and three years teaching.
  • No special requirements: Degree must be conferred on or before agreed upon start date.

Qualifications

  • Valid Drivers License.
  • Reliable transportation for travel connected with official duties.

Benefits

The base annual salary for entry level educators who have a bachelor's degree is $45,000 and a master's degree $51,000. Starting salary is based upon education and prior relevant work experience. Extension educators hired with only a bachelor’s degree are encouraged to work toward completion of an approved master’s degree. Continuation of employment is based upon need, performance and available county funding.

Pay

Schedule

Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm with occasional evenings and weekends. Appointment Length: Regular Continuous/Until Further Notice.
