Extension County Coordinator

This position's home base can be either Ely or Eureka, NV, depending on the successful candidate. The County Coordinator will split their time evenly between the two counties and reports to the Extension Northern Area Director.

About the role

The primary role of the Extension County Coordinator is to work with community members and staff to identify beneficial community-based education and bring in statewide programs for impactful programming in agriculture, children, youth and families, horticulture, community development, natural resources, and health and nutrition in assigned counties. The incumbent will build positive, strong relations with the county commissions and community agencies. Through entrepreneurial leadership, program areas of need will be addressed through collaborations with experts statewide.

One role of the position is managing the offices in assigned counties. The position will supervise some office staff to ensure programming addresses community needs. This position requires working effectively with diverse cultural and community interests and developing and maintaining solid working relationships.

Responsibilities

• Identify and develop community-based education programs
• Bring statewide programs to assigned counties for impactful programming in agriculture, children, youth and families, horticulture, community development, natural resources, and health and nutrition
• Build and maintain strong relations with county commissions and community agencies
• Address program areas of need through collaborations with statewide experts
• Manage offices in assigned counties
• Supervise office staff to ensure programming meets community needs
• Work effectively with diverse cultural and community interests

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree and four (4) years of related professional work experience, OR Master’s Degree and two (2) years of related professional work experience
• Related experience in community education programming and office management or a related field
• Completion of a fingerprinting/background check
• A valid Class “C” driver’s license or higher operator’s license within 30 days of appointment

• Knowledge of community education and management processes
• Skills in leadership, fiscal management, and communication with the public, faculty, and staff
• Ability to work with diverse audiences
• Experience making oral and written presentations
• Experience with social media interactions

Schedule

• Variable work schedule
• Moderate travel within the state with some overnight stays required
• Occasional out-of-state travel required for conferences and meetings

Pay
