Extension Agent for Family and Consumer Sciences - Muhlenberg County

About the role

The Extension Agent For Family And Consumer Sciences will develop, implement, and evaluate a plan of work based on locally identified needs, which will lead to improved quality of living for families & individuals.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement educational programs focusing on making healthy choices, nurturing families, embracing life as you age, securing financial stability, promoting healthy homes and communities, accessing nutritious food, empowering community leaders, developing expertise, and serving as a resource in family and consumer sciences programming areas.
• Implement educational programs that strengthen families and individuals, including food and nutrition, family resource management, human development and family relations, health, safety, and wellness, leadership development, clothing and textiles, housing and the environment, home-based and micro businesses.
• Develop and implement leadership programs such as Kentucky Extension Homemakers, resulting in the development of personal and organizational leadership skills.

Requirements

• Support the dissemination of useful and practical information on subjects relating to Agriculture, Family Consumer Sciences, 4-H, and Community and Rural Development as outlined in the KRS statues 164.605 to 164.675.

Qualifications

• A Master's degree in Family and Consumer Sciences, Human Development, Nutrition, Food Science, or related field from an accredited college or university.
• Experience in teaching, counseling, or community service in Family and Consumer Sciences.
• Knowledge of current research and practices in Family and Consumer Sciences.
• Ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences, including youth, adults, and community leaders.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
