Extension Agent for Family and Consumer Sciences– Martin County

About the role

The Extension Agent for Family and Consumer Sciences will develop, implement, and evaluate a plan of work based on locally identified needs to improve the quality of living for families and individuals in Martin County.

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement educational programs focused on:
  • Making healthy choices
  • Nurturing families
  • Embracing life as you age
  • Securing financial stability
  • Promoting healthy homes and communities
  • Accessing nutritious food
  • Empowering community leaders
• Develop expertise and serve as a resource in family and consumer sciences programming areas, including:
  • Food and nutrition
  • Family resource management
  • Human development and family relations
  • Health, safety, and wellness
  • Leadership development
  • Clothing and textiles
  • Housing and the environment
  • Home-based and micro-business
• Implement educational programs to strengthen families and individuals.
• Develop and implement leadership programs such as Kentucky Extension Homemakers, fostering personal and organizational leadership skills.
• Support the dissemination of useful and practical information on Agriculture, Family Consumer Sciences, 4-H, and Community and Rural Development as outlined in KRS statutes 164.605 to 164.675.

Requirements

• National and state criminal background check (required by state law).
• Letter from the Cabinet for Health and Family Services confirming no findings of substantiated child abuse or neglect.
• Resume, cover letter, and transcripts required at the time of application.
