About the role
The Extension Agent for Family and Consumer Sciences will develop, implement, and evaluate a plan of work based on locally identified needs to improve the quality of living for families and individuals in Martin County.
Responsibilities
- Plan and implement educational programs focused on:
- Making healthy choices
- Nurturing families
- Embracing life as you age
- Securing financial stability
- Promoting healthy homes and communities
- Accessing nutritious food
- Empowering community leaders
- Develop expertise and serve as a resource in family and consumer sciences programming areas, including:
- Food and nutrition
- Family resource management
- Human development and family relations
- Health, safety, and wellness
- Leadership development
- Clothing and textiles
- Housing and the environment
- Home-based and micro-business
- Implement educational programs to strengthen families and individuals.
- Develop and implement leadership programs such as Kentucky Extension Homemakers, fostering personal and organizational leadership skills.
- Support the dissemination of useful and practical information on Agriculture, Family Consumer Sciences, 4-H, and Community and Rural Development as outlined in KRS statutes 164.605 to 164.675.
Requirements
- National and state criminal background check (required by state law).
- Letter from the Cabinet for Health and Family Services confirming no findings of substantiated child abuse or neglect.
