About the role
The 4-H Extension Agent will be located in Gaston County and will be responsible for leading the local 4-H program and managing its day-to-day operations. The 4-H program is a dynamic community that fosters leadership, citizenship, and life skills among young people, with a particular emphasis on serving limited-resource youth in alignment with the National 4-H Council and Cooperative Extension at N.C. A&T.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with county and community-based organizations to deliver programs and recruit participants.
- Determine program needs and priorities by conducting needs assessments.
- Evaluate program impacts using data collected from advisory committee members, county residents, and program participants.
- Develop initiatives that expand opportunities for youth while strengthening the 4-H program in Gaston County.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree with a cumulative grade point average of 2.5 overall or a 3.0 in the major field of study (based on a 4.0 scale), or completion of a Master’s degree.
- A personal automobile and valid driver’s license.
- Computer literacy.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- The ability to plan, implement, market, and evaluate educational programs.
- The ability to work as a team member and support a total Extension program.
- The ability to handle multiple demands and set priorities.
