About the Role
A Secondary Speech Pathologist for the Extended School Year is responsible for evaluating, diagnosing, and treating communication disorders in students.
Responsibilities
- Adhere to due process guidelines, evaluate students using district-approved methods, and participate in eligibility decisions.
- Serve as case manager by developing and maintaining IEPs, facilitating meetings, and providing progress reports to parents.
- Provide direct speech and language instruction to support student goals and assist with communication strategies.
- Collaborate with educators to integrate speech goals into curriculum and support general education staff.
- Support confidentiality, data privacy, and stay current with relevant laws and best practices.
- Monitor student progress through data collection, advocate for students' needs, and collaborate with related service providers and outside agencies.
- Participate in staff development, utilize relevant technology, and handle third-party billing as appropriate.
- Communicate effectively with staff, students, parents, and administrators, maintaining licensure and performing other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- MN Speech Language Pathologist license.
- Master’s degree or equivalent.
- Experience with communication disorders, school-aged students, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Excellent communication skills and knowledge of special education procedures.
